Empowering autistic children through evidence-based interventions

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) aims to decrease the likelihood of environmental trauma that neurodivergent individuals often experience. PBS creates a positive foundation for learning, enabling children to have the opportunity to be supported to reach their maximum potential for skill development. PBS embraces a child and family centred approach, tailoring specific supports and interventions to each child.

Our behaviour team will use a range of developmental assessments and data collection tools to develop an individual behavioural response plan. This may include:

  • Analysis and break down of challenging behaviours, supporting these with tailored response strategies
  • Implementing positive, clear and consistent response plans for staff and families to implement in response to unpreferred behaviours, to promote desired behaviours
  • Using positive reinforcement to increase desired behaviours and promote skill development
  • Determining appropriate short-term and long-term goals to target skill development in relation to behavioural and emotional development
  • Supporting children’s emotional regulation, emotional development and response
  • Targeting behaviour through a holistic approach, capturing all environments and offering specific supports tailored to different environments
  • Centre-based supports
  • Parent support, education, and coaching
